As the days get shorter and the evenings draw in, it's important not to forget your bike lights! If you enjoy cycling for leisure or if you ride to work, even if you normally get home in the daylight one small hold up can mean riding in the dark. Luckily, bike lights are not the heavy, dim flickering affairs of yesteryear - modern LED technology means long lasting and bright light can be powered from small, lightweight batteries.

The new range of LUMEN8 cycle lights bring modern LED technology into an affordable package that will suit all pockets - figuratively and literally thanks to their compact design and build.

The top of the LUMEN8 lights range are the USB rechargeable units. A 400 Lumens white light at the front and a 100 Lumens, large surface area rear light ensure that you can be seen from a safe distance away - standing out against the myriad of lights in the city or shining brightly on an unlit country lane. With adjustable brightness levels, these lights are lights to see with, as well as to be seen by.

Being USB rechargeable, the lights can be charged at many workplaces without the need tor PAT testing as with a conventional mains charger - plus with only a micro USB lead there are no heavy chargers to carry in your pack. With burn times of up to 8 hours for the front light on a single charge, there's plenty of power to see you through your morning and evening commute.

LUMEN8 USB lights are available separately or as a front and rear set and at under £30 for the complete set represent great value for lights of this brightness. The light bodies are water resistant to IP4X, perfect for the British autumn weather.

For more occasional use, the budget set combining a 1 watt front light and a 0.5 watt rear also give a great performance in an urban setting - both lights can be used in either constant or flashing mode and give out a clear and bright light. On an illuminated street, these lights are ideal - for riding on country lanes you would probably want to pair the front light with another brighter unit to light the way ahead and pick out the bumps and potholes before you reach them

Finally, a pair of Silicone LED lights are a handy supplementary set, giving a basic light enough to be seen by, in the event of your main lights running flat. Small and light, fitting easily into a trouser or jersey pocket and powered by a CR2023 battery they are idea to take along as a spare - or to use alongside either of the more powerful sets as a secondary light.

Lumen8 Silicone Bike Lights

Whichever LUMEN8 light you choose, all are CE approved, water resistant and come with easy fit mounting brackets (aside from the silicon lights that just wrap around with no bracket needed) - and at low prices, there is no need to risk your safety riding without a good quality set of lights this winter!
