Caravan Sales Continue to Grow

The National Caravan Council (NCC) has released figures that show that the motorhome market is continuing to grow and it seems as though many new buyers make up these figures.

There is a 20% increase in the registration of new caravans during the first quarter of 2016 when compared to the same period last year. This equates to 3,042 caravans sold that have a retail value of more than £150 million.

This is great for the caravanning industry and builds on the success of 2015 which also saw a 21% increase in new caravans and this makes it one of the fastest growing markets in Europe. The NCC has also experienced an increase in dealer membership to the tune of 25% and many of these companies are experiencing record sales.
This demand is expected to continue for the near future.

Manufacturers are now producing more caravans than ever before and as they offer new products at competitive prices, it makes it possible for young families and retired couples to own a caravan of their own.

It is expected that staycations are likely to remain popular for this year as families and couples continue to take shorter breaks. The figures show that short trips make up 66% of English holidays and this figure is increasing which is down to the fact that a caravan makes it so easy. A caravan is ideal for a last minute trip or a planned trip and that is why the sector is growing.

The NCC is encouraged by the growth of the dealership section as it is the area in which consumers first get to interact with the caravan industry. Therefore, it is important that consumers use NCC dealership members when they are considering purchasing a caravan.

The NCC has many reputable and well-known companies as members, all of which have access to the Approved Dealership Scheme which makes them more credible in the eyes of the consumer. All of this helps to instil confidence in consumers which leads to a growth in sales and the number of people looking to take ownership of a caravan.
