Introducing Romet Bikes

A demand for new bicycles through the summer of 2020 saw bike shops around the UK stripped almost bare of stock, with ongoing shortages of bicycle components, and long delays in global shipping meaning that new bikes are still in high demand for the summer of 2021.

To address demand, Towsure have begun stocking a range of Romet bikes with a selection of mountain bikes and hybrid/trekking bikes in stock for 2021.

The Romet brand name has a long standing history in Poland - with a reputation akin to that of the Raleigh bicycle in Britain, Romet have been described as "a typical present that godparents gave to godchildren for their first comminion", many Polish children grew up learing to ride on a Romet bike.

The state-owned bicycle manufacturing company produced bikes that were rarely seen outside of Poland during the communist era and, following reorganisation of Romet as a public limited company in the early 1990s, despite modernisation and global expansion, the original Romet Bicycles company folded. During the years previous, many of the bicycle components such as derailleur gears were manufactured "in house" or by related company ZZR, producing components that were copies of older Simplex and Huret parts

In the early 2000's the Romet brand was relaunched by a newly formed legal entity "Arkus & Romet" and revived the well-known name with modern production systems and utilising established componentry by well known brands including Shimano and SRAM which meant that quality of parts were beyond doubt.

The new Romet produces an impressive range of bikes from entry level to high end models which are once again ubiquitous in Poland and a regular sight in many European countries, and now available to the United Kingdom.

Producting models with names that give a nod to historic Romet bicycle models including the Gazela and Wagant trekking bicycles and the Rambler hardtail mountain bikes that are aimed at the regular cyclist looking for a value for money bike that is suitable for regular and demanding use, the introduction of Romet bikes to our Sheffield bike shop range at Towsure, fits perfectly alongside our other brands to offer a range of bikes suitable for all.

Most importantly, this brand of bikes that is less well known in the UK, thanks to modern design and production, and use of proven technology means that a Romet is a bike that you can trust for reliability and longevity.

Romet Rambler

Romet Rambler Mountain Bike

The Romet Rambler range is a range of hardtail mountain bikes (rigid frame with suspension forks) perfect for cross-country MTB exploration and leisure rides. 26" wheel mountain bikes have a readily available supply of spare tyres and tubes and are easy to maintain.

With a choice of models including the Rambler Fit, these off road bikes utilise Shimano gearing and Suntour SR suspension forks - the use of industry standard components from renowned brands means that there are no issues with ongoing maintenance of the bike - you can be sure that a Romet Rambler Mountain Bike will give many years of service.

Romet Gazela

Romet Gazela 9 Trekking Bike

The Gazela is another model name that takes inspiration from the brand's history whilst using modern production and components. Ideal for city riding and light trail exploration, the range includes the Gazela 26 hybrid bike and the top of the range Gazela 9 trekking bike that comes fully equipped for serious touring with a 30-speed Shimano Deore drivetrain and lighting powered by the Shimano dynamo hub, meaning no worries about battery life when riding in winter or through the night.
